Terms
Last updated 14 August 2026
These are the terms of using Callout, written the same way the pricing is — plainly, and without a clause that only reveals itself later.
What it costs
- $1,500 once to build your receptionist: the script, your prices, your calendar, your rules.
- $397 a month paid yearly, or $477 month to month. That includes 500 answered minutes a month, and 20c a minute after that.
- Pay As You Go is $1,500 to build and 25c a minute on answered calls, with no monthly fee. It is voice only.
- If an existing customer referred you, the build is $500 and they are paid $200.
You are billed for minutes the receptionist actually spends speaking to a caller. Ringing, voicemail and hang-ups are not billed.
What we commit to
- No lock-in. You can stop month to month, and you keep every call, quote and booking it handled for you.
- 30 days, money back on the monthly fee if it is not doing what we said it would.
- The build fee back if it doesn’t answer 50 calls in your first month. This is promised on the pricing page and it binds here too — it was missing from this document, which made the largest sum you hand over the one thing the terms didn’t cover.
- Your phone number stays yours. We work alongside it. If you leave, you keep it.
- The receptionist admits what it is. Asked directly whether it is a machine, it says yes and offers to pass the caller to a human.
What we do not promise
This section matters more than the one above it, because it is the one nobody else writes.
- We do not promise a number. Not a booking rate, not a recovery rate, not a return. Anyone who tells you what percentage of your missed work an AI receptionist will recover is guessing. The calculator on this site works entirely off figures you supply and says so on the page.
- We do not promise it never gets anything wrong. It is a language model on a phone line. It will misunderstand people. What we commit to is watching what it gets wrong and fixing it, which is what the monthly fee pays for.
- We do not promise uninterrupted service. Callout depends on telephony, model and hosting providers we do not own. When they go down, so does the receptionist.
- It is not a medical, legal or emergency service. It must not be relied on to handle an emergency call, and it is configured to hand a genuine emergency to a human immediately.
What we ask of you
- That the prices, availability and rules you give us are accurate, because the receptionist repeats them to your customers.
- That you tell us if you need calls recorded or not recorded, and that you have handled telling your callers whatever your state requires. See the privacy page.
- That it is not used to mislead anyone about who or what they are speaking to.
Ending it
Email hello@callut.app. Month-to-month stops at the end of the current month. Yearly runs to the end of the term you paid for. The build fee covers work already done and is not refunded except under the two guarantees above. Your data comes with you and is deleted from our side on request.
The law that applies
Australian law, and nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where these terms and the ACL disagree, the ACL wins.
